Coiling for Lyme

Trying to cure one case of Lyme Disease

Spring Coiling Plan

Over the past few days, I’ve had lots of social time: with my boyfriend, with my friends and with my parents. In the background, I was doing the necessary coiling and some thinking about what I need to do next.

Each time I’m about to start a new protocol, I hesitate. I write about it. Think about it. Rethink it. Postpone it. Then when the plan gets clear in my mind, I’m ready to begin.

Spring Coiling Plan

  1. Coil for Lyme 2 days a week, with a day in between. Only 2 days a week because I successfully compressed it last week with only mild repercussions. My kidneys hurt pretty badly, so I’ve ordered some Renavive to support them. The headaches didn’t knock me out completely. I definitely get tired and have all sorts of body pains, but nothing that makes me think the herxes are causing further damage.
  2. Coil my whole body for Candida every day. I’m shifting the coiling protocol, as I described in my previous post, to be 5 minutes on my abdomen and 1 minute everywhere else. In the meantime, I ordered a two-week course of a super strong probiotic that supposedly outcompetes Candida in the gut. I’ll start that when it arrives, hopefully next week.
  3. Coil my whole body for Bartonella every 2nd day, with abdominal coiling on the in-between days. This one will take a little longer to implement. Unlike Candida, which I will bump up to full body coiling in a day, Bartonella has given me hideous herxes in the past. So I’ll start by coiling my lower spine, adding in new central locations as I am able to tolerate them, then eventually add coverage over my whole body.

The plan starts on Friday when I’ll begin the full Candida session. If nothing terrible happens (i.e. a huge Candida reaction), I’ll begin increasing Bartonella coiling next Tuesday, in between Lyme coiling days.

I have high hopes for this spring. I’m afraid I’ll knock myself out for an extended period of time, but I’m doing so much better that I’m ready to take the next step. At the same time, there are tons of things I’d like to be doing with whatever energy I can muster…more yoga and walking, a real spring cleaning in my apartment, maybe a trip to see some friends…

Lab Notebook

Saturday (Feb 11)

Coiling

  • Candida, chest, 2 minutes; abdomen, 10 minutes
  • Bartonella, chest, 2 minutes; abdomen, 5 minutes
  • Lyme, sacrum, 2 minutes

Detox

I added selenium to the many antioxidants that I’m taking. I took a break from it until I ramped up the Lyme coiling and started to feel the herxes again.

  • skin brushing
  • kombucha
  • house cleaning (which meant getting rid of a lot of dust and making the air cleaner, too)
  • nap

Body

My biggest complaint was pain and coldness in my kidneys. I was unsure what was making my back hurt, but no position relieved it, and pushing on the muscles in my back didn’t cause any further pain.

I had a headache at the end of the day, the kind where my eyeballs hurt. And I had sore spots on various bones throughout my body: my left shoulder blade, several ribs, the top of my right ilium, the top of my left femur.

Sunday (Feb 12)

Coiling

  • Candida, chest, 2 minutes; abdomen, 10 minutes
  • Bartonella, chest, 2 minutes; abdomen, 5 minutes

Detox

  • skin brushing
  • kombucha

Body

I had a gathering at my apartment Sunday. I’ve been living here for 6 years and this was my first party. I guess I’ve had up to 5 friends over at one time (probably twice in all that time). This event was another one of the things that builds up my spirit and reminds me that the people around me care about me.

Once again, I had a really bad headache in the evening. I was super tired by 6pm, ready to pass out, but I went for a brief walk outside anyway. I continued to have back pain and kidney pain. I continued to have the strange bone pain. And I had a bout of strongly Lyme-smelling urine.

Monday (Feb 13)

Coiling

  • Candida, chest, 2 minutes; abdomen, 10 minutes
  • Bartonella, chest, 2 minutes; abdomen, 5 minutes

Detox

  • skin brushing
  • diatomaceous earth
  • yoga
  • nap (2 hours)

Body

The yoga class was extremely challenging, especially for my hips. I had a hard time with the lunges and balance poses. My upper body and core are getting progressively stronger. My calves are becoming more defined. But my hips remain an area of weakness, tension and pain.

After yoga, I came home and passed out for 2 hours.

Another headache at night. Bone pain continued. Kidneys better. Swollen abdomen. Loose stools.

Tuesday (Feb 14)

Coiling

  • Candida, chest, 2 minutes; abdomen, 10 minutes
  • Bartonella, chest, 2 minutes; abdomen, 5 minutes

Detox

  • skin brushing
  • kombucha

Body

In retrospect, I should have had a day of “enforced rest” as Dr. Burrascano exhorts patients to do the day after exercise in his online pamphlet for people with Lyme. But I went out after resting in the morning and had a fun time at a museum. The day passed by so quickly, and suddenly I was at my parents’ apartment after 9pm with bloodshot eyes and a headache.

Mostly, it’s the same bone pain in the same places. I had a bout of fatigue twice during the day, after my morning of rest. I had another incident of Lyme-smelling urine. And I had a major cranky, oppositional episode where it felt like everything was all wrong.

I strayed from my dietary restrictions and had sticky rice with mango. My abdominal swelling increased, along with some extra gas and another bout of loose stools.

Wednesday (today)

Coiling

  • Candida, chest, 2 minutes; abdomen, 10 minutes
  • Bartonella, chest, 2 minutes; abdomen, 5 minutes
  • Lyme, 3 minutes on the 3 sections of the backs of my legs: butt+heels, calves+thighs, back of knees; 3 minutes each on the front of my feet, my shins, my knees and the fronts of my thighs; 3 minutes on my sacrum; ilium front, 3 minutes each side; ilium back, 3 minutes each side; side of legs/hips, 3 minutes each

Detox

  • skin brushing
  • rest (lying down without sleeping)
  • kombucha
  • diatomaceous earth

Body

I was pretty tired out today. I had to make up too many days in a row of activity. So I rested. I couldn’t really find a way to fall asleep. I was a bit mopey because my boyfriend went back to California and I won’t see him again in person for a while.

Otherwise, the problems are the same: swollen abdomen, loose stools, gas, bone pain, headache. Tonight my ear is pretty itchy. I have floaters in my vision. And I continue to be very tired, tired enough that I’m moving in slow motion.
