Kidney Conundrum

When I first got the coil machine, it was in the midst of a struggle with kidney stones. Everyone knows they hurt. Seriously, it’s true. At the time, I wasn’t sure if it had passed or was still stuck somewhere in my ureter. Well, I coiled and found out it was still stuck. Herxing is not a great idea when only one kidney can drain and you spend each day […]

Doped up on Dopamine

Last night I slept like a baby. Or actually, I’ve learned that babies wake up a lot during the night. So actually, I slept better than a baby. I slept like I was drugged. I slept deeply through the night. I slept all the way to 6am and I woke up groggy  with a full bladder (probably could have slept longer otherwise). Then I was ready to keep sleeping until […]

Shen Men

Last night before I went to bed, I tried to put mustard seeds (attached to a sticky backing like a tiny band-aid) on my Shen Men points. I did it because I’m trying to prevent my vagus nerve from getting overactive over the next two weeks. Hypothetically, stimulating this point will help my body produce extra dopamine which should calm that nerve. I’m generally against taking substances that modify neurotransmitters […]

Waking up again

There is a phenomenon that I’ve experienced over and over since I’ve been sick. I call it waking up, but it usually happens when I’m already literally awake. It goes like this: I have a number of consecutive days (somewhere between 3 and 50) where my symptoms suck up all my attention. My pain level is high. I’m nauseated. My headaches are blinding. My limbs are heavy and tired and […]

Sweating it out

Ah the joys of summer. Warm nights. Humidity. Swimming laps in an olympic pool during my dreams. My body often feels better in the summer. So far, it’s been hit and miss, but we’ve only had a few days of heat. Yesterday I was tired, had cardiac symptoms, then went for the most lovely, carefree walk in my neighborhood. Today, my joints are aching a lot. I’ve been nauseated most […]

Jaunty

Summer is my best season. My body works best in warm weather. As long as I can breathe, which I can when the humidity isn’t excessive, I’m happy in the heat. It got pretty warm today, I think 86 deg. F. in Jackson Heights, where I live. I went for a walk in the late afternoon. My limbs felt limber. I went for a short walk and when I got […]

Clean

I have a friend who would be so proud of me today for letting someone really clean my apartment. It isn’t because my house was a disgusting mess. (Although it got a lot dirtier the longer I’ve been sick, much dirtier than I would prefer.) It’s because I hate asking for help. And the physical stamina that house cleaning requires has been way beyond my capacity for over four years. […]

Release

My acupuncture treatment yesterday made a big difference. I slept well, even if sleep began later than I had hoped. Of course, the fact that the treatment worked was the reason I went to bed late. I also woke up more refreshed than I’ve been in weeks. Last week, I had Neural Therapy for the first and last time. (I can’t say whether I’d recommend it because I’m allergic to […]

Powering Down

I went to my acupuncturist today. Acupuncture is one of the things I’m adding to my detox and rebuilding programs. I’ve found that acupuncture treatments get things moving. I credit my acupuncturist with getting me in good enough shape that I could find a doctor to diagnose me three and a half years ago. She not only did a lot of pain and fatigue management, but cleared some of the […]

100 Days of Coiling

Today is the hundredth day since I started coiling. I’m now coiling for 4 infections: Lyme, Bartonella, Babesia and Candida. Each infection causes as different kind of reaction, so I’ve worked out the coiling times and increased them accordingly. My impression so far is that I’ve gotten stronger, have more endurance and more concentration on my good days than I ever had on antibiotics. I still have bad days, partly […]
