Deciding to heal completely

After a long physical struggle, I’ve had a major reprieve. I’ve been able to do quite a few physical activities. I’ve been able to travel. I’ve been able to cheat on my food restrictions without immediate, severe consequences. If I didn’t know better, I’d pretend I was in remission. Fortunately for me, many people have warned me that if I want to really be done with Lyme, I have to […]

Pacific Healing

Holy cow! I’m on my honeymoon. Back up. Holy cow! I got married. Anyone who has had chronic Lyme Disease understands that these two things seem out of reach after the days and months and years of being bed-ridden, anxious, depressed, severely ill, in extreme pain, constantly canceling plans, reluctant to make commitments because the body is forever failing. I can’t credit the coil machine for giving me a wonderful […]

Strawberries

Food allergies are a real bummer. I moved to the part of California known for its amazing strawberries. They smell really good…and their flavor lives up to their reputation. Joe and I decided to make strawberry jam as a party favor for our wedding, this being Watsonville and all. We did it in three batches. The first batch was the one I couldn’t resist. We bought unrefrigerated strawberries picked that […]

A Pretty Good Bad Day

Yesterday was a symptomatically bad day. I was super tired. The kind of tired that makes me want to lie down every time I sit up. My bones hurt. My muscles hurt. My digestive tract was irritated, from tummy to colon…I went to the bathroom every hour or two. I got an intense headache that made my eyes hurt and was all over my forehead and the front of my […]

Loosening up and making mistakes

I miss eating. I love eating. Before I got sick, I was a vegetarian. I ate at the local Indian restaurants a few times a week. I ate tasty salads with tons of ingredients, including hard boiled eggs. I cooked and ate Italian food (think eggplant parmigiana or pasta with tomato sauce). I loved cheese. I drank steamed milk, hold the coffee, many mornings. I liked to have a chocolate […]

Life Happens

Life happens…and I’m so glad it does! It’s been quite a while since I’ve simultaneously had the time and the energy to sit down and write. When last I wrote, it was the day before I set up my dad’s new computer and fixed a problem on my own. By the time I was done with both, my arms hurt too much to blog. The next day my sister and […]

Candida under control

So far, I’ve been coiling for Candida only to the point that it doesn’t get worse and most of my related symptoms are under control. Unlike the tick borne illnesses, this one come from all the antibiotics. What reduced my Lyme load  increased my Candida load. Thus far, I’ve been using 5LAC and coiling. I’ve got in mind to increase the coiling significantly sometime in the near future. Around that […]

Coiling Break

As I mentioned in my last post, I had a two week planned break from coiling (Jan 13-25). I did my best guess of when to take a break based on a few factors: I was expecting to be done coiling for Babesia by the beginning of January. The Lyme coiling season is usually August to December, and for my first coiling season it might go to the beginning of […]

Cheating without consequences

In August, I learned about a few more food sensitivities and decided to get strict with myself. For the past several months, I’ve been doing a fair amount of detoxing and completely avoiding these foods. So on Tuesday night, I decided to cheat. I didn’t choose foods that trigger my sensitivities. Instead, I had my favorite dessert, sticky rice with mango, at a local Thai restaurant. Normally anything with that […]

Labor Day Weekend

This weekend was one of the last set of days to aim for people and not make my health my only priority. It was hard. My body is already struggling with the awakening Lyme bacteria cysts…and I got my period, which was worse than earlier this summer but not a day on the floor utterly ill. I spent time with my sister and her son who were in town. Then […]
