Little by little, I’m getting my protocol for autumn in order. I can feel myself slowing down. My priorities are getting more focused on my body and on catching up with my backlog. Less social time, more time resting and taking care of myself.
As I’ve looked at my detox protocol, I wanted to add in something else that absorbs toxins. My acupuncturist recommended diatomaceous earth and my doctor agreed that it made sense for me. I’m wondering if I’ll be able to use it in lieu of a second dose of welchol on the Herxing days.
The basic plan is to use diatomaceous earth daily. I’m starting with 1/4 teaspoon in a big glass of water. I’ll try that for a few days and if it’s okay, I’ll increase it by a quarter of a teaspoon. Eventually, the idea is to work up to 1 teaspoon a day.
Supposedly, diatomaceous earth helps clear out a lot of different toxins, including heavy metals and protein-based toxins. It also has some anti-microbial properties and can help rid the colon of viruses, parasites, worms, bacterial infections and so on. And it is supposed to be a great cleanser for the intestines, not just of microbes but of old excrement and mucus that should have left a long time ago. The place I purchased it from has a summary of the benefits.
I’ve had it in my house for about a week. But today I decided it was time to start. My intestines are getting irritated and, correspondingly, so is my skin, as in an acne breakout. This stuff should be gentler than welchol. Both of them suck up cholesterol and bile, but the diatomaceous earth doesn’t require bile to work. We’ll see.
Everything I do these days is an experiment. I don’t know where to find the most accurate, reliable information about all these off-the-map supplements and treatments. So I listen for what has worked for people I know, I check in with my doctor, and I see for myself.

Body
I slept pretty well last night, even if I didn’t get to bed until almost 1am. Sometimes my mind just gets on a roll and there’s no stopping it to fall asleep.
I had low back pain this morning. I’ve had a moderate headache on and off all day. But mostly, I’m tired. Bone tired. I needed a lot of time to rest after the yoga class. I think that’s where we are in the Lyme and other bacterial die-offs: the fatigue. I might need several more days of rest to recuperate from the past days of activity and the continued treatments.
My intestines are pretty irritated. I’ve had a lot of mucus in my bowels. My feces have an odd odor to them. I’ve had to go several times today, even though my bowels aren’t loose. My abdomen is swollen. Something’s happening in there.
My skin is breaking out on my face and elsewhere. This is usually a sign that my bowels have been upset for a while and they aren’t through yet.
We’ll see what my acupuncturist can do for me tomorrow.

update? I believe I have Lymes and I have DE available to take but I’d like to know your full experience on it. 🙂
If you look at further posts, you’ll see I took DE for quite a while. It helped with the herxes. I don’t remember what other effects it had, but I wrote about it when I was taking it daily.
