Coiling for Lyme

Trying to cure one case of Lyme Disease

Juicing without carrots

When your life is sweet, do you really need sweet foods?

I was asking myself this question the day I discovered carrots have malvin in them. I’ve been eating them all along in small quantities only occasionally…until I started drinking juiced greens.

Meanwhile, I’m heading towards a zero-inflammation diet, hoping to keep myself from getting too sick and too symptomatic as autumn progresses. So no more carrots starting this week.

Carrots make juiced greens palatable. They are sweet enough to counteract the bitterness of some of the greens. They bring out the other flavors, as well, making the experience more interesting to the tastebuds.

So I was nervous about drinking juiced greens with no carrots at all. My mother, angel that she is, suggested that we reduce the amount of carrots over a few weeks, starting mid-August. It worked fine. I didn’t even realize there were no carrots in the most recent batch.

But be forewarned, juiced greens with no carrots (or apples, the other sweet juice) are not for the faint of heart, and certainly not for juicing newbies. This is definitely an acquired taste. Fortunately, once I add half a hand-squeezed lemon, it’s all good.

Body

I slept a lot. I was in bed for about 10 hours, sleeping upwards of 9 of them. I had a few night sweats. I woke up itchy one time, scratching my sternum rash before becoming conscious enough to realize that’s a bad idea. (It’s going to take a few days of treatment before the itching calms down.)

I was slow this morning. I guess I still want to believe that one day of rest will allow me to recuperate from my adventures. Not true. I need time to be still, to be horizontal, to zone out a little.

I managed a few tasks today, the time sensitive ones. Then when it was time to clear my desk, I decided I needed to go for a walk. It was a good idea. I needed to be outside and I needed to be moving.

I’ve got a bit of a headache. The Lyme Herx from yesterday is coming on already. I took a welchol, but it wasn’t really enough. I’ll take another one before bed. The headache is getting worse and it’s creeping down my cervical spine.

My joints are a little achy. I think that on a non-Lyme treatment day, I might try doing Lyme treatments on my joints. Once I have a plan to try, I’ll write it down.

Urinary hesitation is back. Darn it. Good thing I’m seeing the urologist next week.

And, in the category of odd, my feces are green today. I’m not sure what that’s about. It’s definitely happened before on this 4.5 year journey into illness and strange bodily phenomena. Just noting it for now.
